Barn owls on site

On selected sites across our solar portfolio, our team have installed nest boxes to cater towards barn owls, small birds, and bats.

Here, we invite you to take a look inside a barn owl nest box positioned on one of our southern UK sites, and monitor its visitors.

Nobody home?

There are a number of reasons why our nest box might be empty, such as the time of day or seasonal variances.

With this in mind, we’ve captured some footage from the nest box to be enjoyed all year around.

Our owl camera provides a unique opportunity to observe the birds’ behaviour in their natural setting, and understand how solar farms can host protected species, such as barn owls. The site’s existing grassland and newly installed wildflower meadow provide an optimal habitat for barn owls, and we hope that they continue to use the site for nesting and breeding opportunities

Stay tuned

We hope to highlight additional nest boxes from our solar portfolio over the coming months and, where possible, add further live streams.

Biodiversity works such as these are at the heart of our approach to powering a sustainable future.
