Legal Counsel

Ross Jacob

“I joined Bluefield in May 2022 as a Paralegal after holding legal roles in renewable energy projects across the UK, Middle East and Central America. My responsibilities primarily included reviewing NDAs and terms and conditions, and supporting compliance requirements for an FCA-regulated firm. Following the completion of my probation period in November 2022, I was offered a training contract and funding for the LPC, which commenced in 2023.

During my traineeship, I supported the UK investment team in M&A and corporate matters, and assisted the Italian investment team with private fund administration. This included drafting documentation for financial closes, capital calls, and shareholder distributions. I also gained experience in other matters such as refinancings, voluntary liquidation transactions, negotiating a bespoke shareholder agreement for a private investment vehicle and drafting a private placement memorandum for the launch of a new fund.

Upon recently qualifying, I have taken on additional responsibilities, engaging in higher-value workstreams and leading certain matters. The guidance from my legal team line managers, combined with the continued support from the Partners, has been invaluable to my career progression and I am eager to continue my professional development in the role of Legal Counsel.

Operations Manager

Monica Zuluaga

“In January 2021, I joined Bluefield as an Assistant Portfolio Manager after working for over six years in client management in the solar industry. I was eager to gain hands-on experience in day-to-day site management and learn about the other aspects of solar O&M. However, during this time, my family went through a very tragic situation, and I was diagnosed with ADHD which was overwhelming but also brought a sense of relief and understanding. Bluefield was incredibly supportive at every level. Thanks to the flexibility and help given to work under difficult personal circumstances, plus implementing Access to Work, a government program aimed at helping employees overcome workplace-related barriers, I was able to develop new strategies to manage my symptoms. I saw an immediate change and positive impact which was recognized by the company and my colleagues.

Today, after only two years, I have been promoted twice and I am now the Operations Manager of Bluefield Operations. I have been able to bring my experience, creativity, and unique perspective to the table, contributing to the company’s overall success. I feel heard and trusted in my decisions, and I am empowered every day to be true to myself.”

Field Service Engineer

Alex Williams

“My employee development has been an ongoing journey of learning, growth, and self-improvement that has enabled me to reach new levels of professional and personal achievement. My career began in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer, where I served for just over four years, three of which were spent aboard HMS Kent. After leaving the Navy, I transitioned into a career as an electrician and later specialised in the renewable energy sector.

When I joined Bluefield Operations, I started as a General Operative, carrying out basic electrical labouring tasks while undertaking an NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrotechnical Installations (NVQ 5357). The combination of my naval engineering experience and the technical skills gained through the apprenticeship led to rapid development within the company, allowing me to take on greater responsibilities. A key milestone was my promotion to Field Service Engineer (FSE) in under two years.

As an FSE, I was responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance across more than 56MW of generation capacity over four sites. This role presented challenges associated with an ageing portfolio, which strengthened my technical expertise and leadership abilities. It also gave me the opportunity to mentor a junior colleague, and witnessing their promotion was a particularly rewarding experience in my own development.

Recently, I have been promoted to Regional Team Lead (RTL), a role that involves managing a growing team of engineers while continuing to provide essential repairs and maintenance across our sites. I view this next step as both a challenge and an opportunity to further develop my leadership skills and contribute to the continued success of the company.

Investment Manager

Nunzia Pignataro

After completing my law degree, I joined Bluefield in 2016 as a document manager and paralegal. Bluefield offered me the opportunity to study for my Legal Practice Course and support me whilst I completed my training to become a qualified solicitor.

During my two-year training contract, Bluefield not only gave me exposure to new areas of the business but also allowed me time to work on my studies. I received encouragement from the entire team, my supervisor and the Managing Partners. They gave me the flexibility needed to successfully complete my studies while ensuring that I was receiving excellent legal training.

Further to the exposure with M&A transactions through several years as Legal Counsel, Bluefield supported me in the transition from a purely legal role to an Investment Manager role. I am now focused on completing transactions from all angles, whilst applying the legal expertise gained so far.
