Integrated Solar and Wind: Data Platforms, Repowering, and Batteries

< 1 min read time

Giovanni Terranova and Jon Henderson join the Hypercube Podcast to discuss the benefits of building a fully integrated  renewables platform, our approach to data, and the vital role that battery storage may play in the energy transition.

On the latest episode of the Hypercube Podcast, Founding Partner and Managing Director Giovanni Terranova and Director of Asset Management Jon Henderson explore how Bluefield has evolved into a fully integrated platform, spanning development, construction, operations, and data analytics.

During the podcast, Giovanni shares the story of Bluefield’s journey, starting with the launch of BSIF, the UK’s first listed solar fund, in 2013, and the Group’s development into five companies that cover the entire renewable energy value chain. Giovanni also explains the decision to prioritise internal growth over acquisitions, discusses the benefits and cultural challenges of integrating operations, and highlights how Bluefield’s diverse team is uniquely equipped to create value from solar, wind, and upcoming battery storage projects across Europe.

Jon, meanwhile, addresses the complexities of managing over 140 assets across different markets, including the challenges of standardising various SCADA and monitoring systems and how Bluefield use in-house data analytics to enhance asset management and performance evaluation. The conversation also explores Bluefield’s strategy of acquiring and repowering underperforming or ageing assets, as well as the increasing importance of battery storage in the energy transition.
