Four solar and BESS projects from our development pipeline set to move to the next phase following planning consent
Bluefield has secured planning consent for four new clean energy projects across the UK, marking another step forward in its strategic development pipeline.
The approvals include two new-build solar farms and two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations, both co-located with solar assets – further strengthening Bluefield’s contribution to national energy resilience.
Project Overview
Water Hall Solar Farm (West Sussex)
- Solar capacity: 35MW
- Expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power 8,100 homes annually
Rookery Solar Farm and BESS (Huntingdonshire)
- Solar capacity: 49.9MW
- Includes 40MW co-located BESS
- Expected to meet the annual electricity needs of 13,000 homes
Low Horton BESS (Northumberland)
- Battery capacity: 40MW, co-located with Low Horton Solar Farm (consented in 2022 and due to start construction in 2026)
Tar Farm BESS (Oxfordshire)
- Battery capacity: 35MW, co-located with Tar Farm Solar Farm (consented in 2022 and due to start construction in 2026)
As a full-service clean energy platform, Bluefield integrates development, construction, and long-term asset management – ensuring that each project delivers enduring value for communities, investors, and the UK energy system.
Jonathan Selwyn, Managing Director of Bluefield Developments, said:
“Securing consent for these projects reflects the continued momentum of Bluefield’s full-service platform – from development through to construction and long-term asset management. We’re proud to be enabling infrastructure that’s not only engineered for long-term performance but rooted in community value and stewardship. These projects demonstrate how solar and storage can work together to strengthen the UK’s energy security.”
